Being the leader of the youth classification , and having won 2 victories at the Tour de France 2008 , he was caught in the use of doping . For this reason, he and his entire Saunier Duval-Scott team were removed from the race. Later, Riccò and his former partner for Saunier Duval-Scott Leonardo Piepoli were fired from the team. The eponymous sponsor of the team announced the immediate cessation of funding. Ricco was disqualified for two years. In 2010, he signed a contract with the Vacansoleil team. However, he was caught in the repeated use of doping and he was threatened with a lifetime disqualification. In April 2012, Ricco was disqualified for 12 years. [1]
