After winning the 2003 World Cup, Dyatchin decided to leave the sport - at that time they planned to include the βcrownβ distance for him in the program of the Olympic Games only in 2012 in London , and Dyatchin did not see further prospects in swimming. Having moved from Lipetsk to Tolyatti, Vladimir took up the construction business with his father.
Once, having gone on vacation to his native Lipetsk, Dyatchin had a car accident and broke his collarbone . Doctors advised developing a sore arm in the pool and there Dyatchin found out that the IOC decided to nevertheless include a 10-kilometer distance in the program of the Games in Beijing in 2008 . The hand successfully grew together, and Dyatchin decided to return to the sport after an almost 2-year break. For a year of hard training, Vladimir returned to the Russian national team, selected for the 2007 World Cup and won his favorite distance there for the second time in his career, being 6 hundredths of a second ahead of the famous German Thomas Lurz .
