Survivor (album)

Survivor - the third studio album of the American group Destiny's Child , went on sale May 1, 2001 in the United States. The producers of Survivor were Beyonce , Jonathan Rotem , Poke & Tone, Corey Runay and Mark J. Feist. The third single from the album, Bootylicious , won first place on the Billboard Hot 100 [1] . The author of the second single, “Survivor”, was Beyonce, and the fourth single, Emotion , is a cover of the song Bee Gees .

Content

Commercial success

In the US, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 [2] chart, selling 663,000 copies in its first week of sales. The album received a four-time platinum status from the American Association of Record Companies [3] . Also, the album took 70th place in the list of the most successful albums of the first decade of the 2000s of Billboard magazine [4] .

The album debuted on May 12 in the first place in the UK [5] . The British Phonogram Manufacturers Association awarded the album 3 platinum status [6] , the circulation of which in the UK exceeded 900,000 copies.

In Europe, the album became twice platinum, having sold over 2 million copies [7] . "Survivor" became double platinum in Australia. The International Federation of the Phonogram Producers announced that in 2001, Destiny's Child's “Survivor” album had sold 7.8 million copies worldwide. The total circulation was more than 10 million copies [8] .

On February 21, 2001, Destiny's Child at the 44th Grammy Ceremony received a statuette in the Best R & B Group category for the song Survivor [9] .

Singles

Independent Women Part 1

The first single from the album was the song " Independent Women Part I ", which was included in the soundtrack to the film " Charlie's Angels " [10] . On November 18, 2000, the song took the first place on the Billboard Hot 100 [11] and held the leadership in the chart for 11 weeks [12] . The song was included in the list of the most successful songs of the first decade of the 2000s, published by Billboard magazine, on the 18th place [13] .

On December 2, 2000, the song led the UK Singles Chart [14] .

Survivor

The second single from the album, reaching the 2nd place [15] , could not become the leader of the Billboard Hot 100 chart . In the UK, the single reached number one in the UK Singles Chart [16] .
