Biography
After graduating from school, Andersson wanted to study shortly before the open film school in Stockholm (in 1970 she was transformed into the ), but only those who were 24 years old were accepted there, so he entered Lund University , in which studied the history of drama, theater and film. But his second film, (1976), failed.
Due to financial problems, Andersson again began to shoot advertising clips. These were unusual advertising miniatures, which were performances of public stereotypes in long shots. These videos were awarded many awards, including eight Cannes Golden Lions at an advertising festival.
In 1977, Roy Andersson established his production company Roy Andersson Production , and in 1984 - Studio 24 - an independent production company, which is managed until today.
In 2000 he began to develop his existential trilogy, consisting of the films “ Songs from the Second Floor ”, “ You, the Living ” and “The Dove sat on a branch, thinking about life . Filming of the first feature film continued from 1996 to 2000.
