Alexander Likopolsky ( Greek Αλέξανδρος Λυκοπόλεως ; III - beginning of IV centuries) - a Christian theologian (according to philosophical beliefs Neoplatonists ), the author of a small treatise against the Manichaeans . Information about Alexander’s life has not been preserved, Patriarch Photius calls him Bishop of Lycopolis [1] , and German patrologist Otto Bardenhever calls him a pagan . [2] There is an opinion that he was a repentant Manichaean who converted to Christianity . [3]
His treatise, as coinciding with the anti-Manichaean position of the Church Fathers of the 4th century , was included in Christian anti-Manichaean collections. He is known for valuable information about Manichaean cosmology. The treatise of Alexander Likopolsky is contained in the 18th volume of Patrologia Graeca .
