Sports career

In biathlon since 1998 . She played for the national team since 2001 . She participated in both winter and summer biathlon.

At junior level, the best results were the sixth place in the sprint at the junior world championships of 2003 in Koscielisko and the seventh place in the sprint at the European championships among juniors in 2003 in Forni-Avoltri . At the World Junior Summer Biathlon Championships in 2000, she stopped a step away from medals, taking fourth place in the relay.

At the fourth stage of the World Cup season 2007/2008 in the German Ruhpolding took the tenth place in the relay team of the country. The best position in the World Cup overall is the 37th place in the 2005/2006 season .

At the World Summer Biathlon Championships in 2007, she took fifth place in the relay team.

At the 2008 World Biathlon Championships, the best result was shown in the sprint - 11th place. In the individual race, she took only 38th place, but with a clean move she lost to the winner only a little more than half a minute, which, if she had an unmistakable shooting, would have allowed her to win silver.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, it showed much more modest results than in Turin. So, the highest place was taken in the pursuit - the 38th. She was unable to select the mass start.

At the IBU Cup level, she won the stage, taking third place in the sprint at the Altenberg stage in the 2008/09 season.

Throughout his career, Madara’s Achilles heel was fired. With a relatively good running speed, she had a catastrophically low percentage of hitting in the standing position, while lying down, the shooting of the Latvian was much better. Nevertheless, she was always considered the undisputed leader of the Latvian women's biathlon team, far ahead of her team-mates.

After the 2010/2011 season, she ended her career due to the lack of adequate funding from the National Biathlon Federation.
