Ascension Cathedral - the destroyed Cathedral of the city of Lipetsk . It was located on Voznesenskaya Square (now Theater Square ).
The Cathedral is the first stone temple of Lipetsk . It was built in 1751 at the Lipsky factories . The construction was carried out in several stages, so the bell tower was built after 1812 . In 1850, the cathedral was expanded and it acquired its final form.
The temple was in the form of a two-ternary quadruple with aisles and a low dome. The facade was decorated with baroque platbands and paired pilasters. In the Ascension Cathedral there were three limits: in the name of the Ascension of the Lord (the main), the Archangel Michael and St. George the Victorious (detached).
The temple was central in the city until 1805 , when the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ was opened on Cathedral Square .
Ascension Cathedral lasted until 1930 . Then there was a shooting gallery, workshop, warehouse. In the mid -1960s , the building was destroyed.
