History
In 1850, the construction of an earthen dam was started at the source of the Iset River. Only in 1946 was the earthen dam replaced with a concrete one. Due to this, the level of the reservoir rose and reached the modern one. The lake water is used by the Sredneuralskaya GRES .
Along the shores of the lake, archaeologists have discovered more than a dozen sites of ancient people dating from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. Ancient images caused by ocher were found on one of the islands, but they were flooded with rising water levels.
