Biography
Alexander Ivanovich Volkov was born in 1916 in the village of Khotitsy , now the Pskov region of the Pskov region , in a peasant family. Russian
He graduated from high school, worked as a mechanic at a factory in Pskov .
In the Soviet Army since 1937 , graduated from junior lieutenant courses. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939 .
Member of World War II since 1941 . He fought on the Leningrad Front. He took part in the first battles on the outskirts of Leningrad . Almost all 900 blockade days were on his defense.
The platoon commander of the 131st guards rifle regiment, junior lieutenant Alexander Volkov, on January 15, 1944, in a battle in the vicinity of the village of Rekhkolovo (the Leningrad City Council), closed with his body the embrasure of an enemy machine-gun bunker , thereby contributing to the fulfillment of the combat mission by the unit [1] .
He was buried in Leningrad in a mass grave at the military cemetery "Altitude Meridian" (Pulkovo Observatory Park at Pulkovo Heights).
