Biography

Leah Thompson was born into the family of singer Barbara Thompson and her husband Cliff. As a child, she studied ballet , and at the age of 14 she became a professional dancer and received a scholarship at the American Ballet Theater (ATB) [4] . Thompson participated in more than 45 productions of ATB, as well as the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Minnesota Ballet Theater [5] . Her brother Andrew also became a professional ballet dancer.

Thompson decided to leave the ballet and become an actress, at the age of 20 she moved to New York , at first she starred in commercials of Burger King [4] and music videos. In 1983, with the release of the films “ Jaws 3 ” and “ All the Right Moves ”, she made her film debut. The most famous acting work of Thompson was the role of Lorraine Baines in the movie trilogy " Back to the Future " [4] . In the 1980s and in the early 1990s, she starred in many films, and since the mid-1990s she has become mainly a television actress. Thompson starred in the sitcom Carolina in New York , which aired on NBC from 1995 to 2000.

In the 2000s, Thompson starred mainly in little-known television films, and played cameo roles in television series and in the theater. In the mid-2000s, she starred in a series of nine full-length films “ Jane Doe ” produced by Hallmark , Thompson directed two of these films as a director [5] .

Personal life

In the mid-1980s, Thompson dated actor Dennis Quaid [5] . In 1989, Thompson married director Howard Deutsch [6] , whom she met on the set of the movie " Something Wonderful " in 1987. They have two daughters - Madeleine (born in 1991) and Zoe (born in 1994) [5] . Zoe Deutsch went in the footsteps of her mother and became an actress.
