Warron

Varron ( Latin: Varrō , presumably from varus - “ bent leg”) is an ancient Roman patrimonial name ( cognomogenous ), the carriers of which were Terence . Of these, the most famous were the following representatives:

  • Guy Terentius Warron (d. After 200 BC) - Roman consul , one of the two army commanders at the battle of Cannes [1] [2] [3] ;
  • Mark Terence Warron (c. 116–27 BC) - Latin writer and encyclopedic scholar [4] ;
  • Mark Terentius Varron Lucullus (c. 116 - after 56 BC) - Consul of the Republic in 73 BC e [5] . Lucullus' younger brother [6] , possibly adopted by the previous one [6] ;
  • Publius Terence Warron (c. 82 - c. 35 BC) - Roman epic poet [7] [8] [9] ;
  • Mark Terentius Varron Gibba [10] (d. 42 BC) is a quaestor in 46 [11] [12] and the plebeian stands in 43 years BC. e [13] [14] . He died in the battle of Philippi [15] ;
  • Aulus Terence Varron Murena (d. 22 BC) - son of Lucius Licinius Murena , consul of the Roman Empire 23 BC e. Executed in the reign of imp. Augustus [16] .
