History
In 1592, a small group of Dublin residents, receiving a letter from Queen Elizabeth, founded a college in the abandoned All Saints Monastery, located south-east of the city walls [7] . The first rector of the university was the Archbishop of Dublin, Adam Loftus .
After a while, the city expanded southward, and the university became part of it. The main building of the university began to be built a century after its foundation.
Women were admitted to college as full-fledged students in 1904, Trinity College was the first of the oldest universities in Europe to take this step.
