Biography
Paisius was born in the 4th century in Egypt . Having lost his parents early, he was ordained a church cleric , and later he took monastic tonsure in one of the Egyptian monasteries . The spiritual mentor of Paisius was Abba Pamva .
After the death of his teacher, Paisius withdrew deep into the desert, where the ascetic began to lead an ascetic life and gathered a lot of followers around him. According to the life, once during prayer he was lifted up to heaven and saw " beautiful paradise villages full of indescribable light and joy, he also saw the church of the primitive and eternally triumphant, having the privilege of communing here with the immaterial food of the Divine Secrets ."
Paisius died at the beginning of the V century in old age, was buried in the monastery he founded. Soon after the death, the relics of Paisius were transferred by Isidore Pelusiotsky to Pisidia ( Asia Minor ) along with the relics of St. Paul.
