Geography

The area is located in the east of the Krasnodar Territory . The boundaries of the district pass along natural boundary tracts: in the northern part, the district borders on the lands of the Tikhoretsky and Novopokrovsky districts; in the eastern part with the lands of the Stavropol Territory ; in the southeastern part, the border runs along the Kuban River , the western part - with the lands of the Tbilisi region .

History

On June 2, 1924, the Kropotkinsk District was formed as part of the Armavir District of the Southeast Region . It included part of the territory of the abolished Caucasian department of the Kuban-Black Sea region . Initially, the district consisted of 26 village councils: Armenian, Vannovsky , Gulkevichsky , Dmitrievsky , Caucasian , Kazan , Leonovsky, Lovlinsky , Losevsky , Maykopsky, Maryinsky , Naydenovsky, Nikolinsky , Novobekeshevsky , Novovladimirsky , Novoivanovsky, Novoukrainsky , Severinsky, Sokolovonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severokubonsky, Severovalovsky, Severoubonsky, Temizhbek , Toropyan, Tiflis , Ukrainian.

Since November 16, 1924, the district has been part of the North Caucasus Territory .

On February 27, 1928, the Vannovsky district with its center in the village of Vannovsky was separated from the Kropotkinsk region .

Since January 10, 1934, the district has been part of the Azov-Black Sea Territory .

On December 31, 1934, the Gulkevichi district with a center in the village of Gulkevichi and the Tiflis district with a center in the village of Tiflis were allocated from the Kropotkinsk district .

Since September 13, 1937, Kropotkinsk district in the Krasnodar Territory .

December 6, 1943 the city ​​of Kropotkin was assigned to the category of cities of regional subordination. In this regard, the center of Kropotkinsky district on January 25, 1944 was moved to the village of Kavkazskaya , and the district was renamed the Caucasus .

On August 22, 1953, the Yeremizino-Borisovsky and Ilyinsky Village Councils of the abolished Ilyinsky District were annexed to the Kavkazsky District.

Since 1956, the center of the district again became the city of Kropotkin , which is actually not part of it.

On February 11, 1963, the territories of the former Gulkevichi and Tbilisi districts were included in the district, and the city of Gulkevichi became the center of the district.

On February 1, 1963, the Caucasian Rural District was formed [4] .

On December 30, 1966, the Tbilisi district was restored to its former borders.

On October 20, 1980, the Gulkevichi district with its center in the city of Gulkevichi was again separated from the Caucasus region , and the village of Kavkazskaya became the center of the Caucasus region .

In 1993, the activity of the village Soviets was terminated; the territories of the village administrations were transformed into rural districts.

Since January 1, 2006, in accordance with the Law of the Krasnodar Territory dated June 7, 2004 No. 713-KZ [5], the district is endowed with the status of a municipal district, 8 municipalities (rural settlements) are formed in it, and the boundaries of municipalities are established.

On August 8, 2008, in accordance with the Law of the Krasnodar Territory No. 1553-KZ [6], the municipality of Kropotkin was transformed into the Kropotkinsky urban settlement and incorporated into the Caucasus region , the city of Kropotkin became the center of the united municipality.

The population of the district as of 01.01.2006 amounted to 43,472 people, all of them are rural residents. Among the entire population, men make up 47.0%, women 53.0%. The female population of fertile age is 11124 people (48.3% of the total number of women). Children from 0 to 17 years old - 9254 (21.3% of the total population), adults - 34218 people (78.0%). In the total population, 25908 (59.6%) are people of working age, 22.8% are pensioners [22] .

According to the All-Russian Population Census ( 2002 ), in four large villages of the district live:

  • Caucasian - 11 531 inhabitants
  • Kazan - 10 566 inhabitants,
  • Temizhbekskaya - 6,033 inhabitants,
  • Dmitrievskaya - 3,368 inhabitants.

Economics

Agriculture

In the total area of ​​the district 122 745 ha, agricultural land is 92 507 ha.

The main direction in crop production is the cultivation of grain and industrial crops. Main cultivated crops:

  • grain and leguminous plants - occupy an area of ​​43,654 ha or 48.6% of the sown area,
  • corn - occupies 14756 hectares,
  • industrial crops - sugar beets are grown on an area of ​​8421 ha or 9.6%, sunflower is cultivated on an area of ​​11721 ha or 13%, soybean covers an area of ​​4680 ha or 5.3%.

Agricultural production in the region involved 8 large and medium collective farms:

  • OJSC named after "Michurina" - the area of ​​agricultural land is 5626 hectares,
  • CJSC "Dawn" - 6065 ha,
  • JV Vostok LLC - 7119 ha,
  • SHP Dmitrievskoye LLC - 8818 ha,
  • JSC Firm "Agrocomplex" them. N. I. Tkacheva (formerly OJSC "Caucasus") - 6790 ha,
  • Stepnoye OJSC - 3024 ha,
  • OJSC Insurance Company Rodina - 4309 ha,
  • CJSC Victoria - 3365 ha.

There are also 235 peasant (farmer) farms and 16897 personal subsidiary farms .

Industry

Transport

The Kavkazsky District is a transport hub that provides communications with all regions of the Krasnodar Territory. Cargo flows flow through the Kavkazskaya railway station (the city of Kropotkin ), uniting the territories of the Krasnodar Territory and southern Russia.

In addition, Kropotkin is a major road junction. Here passes the federal highway "Caucasus", as well as roads of regional and regional significance " Temryuk - Krasnodar - Stavropol ".
