Location
The city is located 68 km east of the administrative center of the region - the city of Concepcion and 23 km south-west of the administrative center of the province - the city of Chillan .
The commune borders:
- in the north - with the communes of Chillan , Chillan Viejo
- in the east - with the commune of San Ignacio
- in the south - with the commune of Pemuko
- in the west - with the commune of Cillon
Demographics
According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 21,367 people, of which 10,601 are men and 10,766 are women.
The population of the commune is 1.08% of the total population of the Bio-Bio region . 35.74% are rural and 64.26% are urban.
