Location
The settlement is located 75 km north-east of the administrative center of the region - the city of Concepción and 35 km north-west of the administrative center of the province - the city of Chillan .
The municipality borders:

- in the south - with the commune of Portesuelo
- in the southwest with the Treguaco commune

The population of the commune is 0.28% of the total population of the Bio-Bio region . 70.42% refers to the rural population and 29.58% - the urban population.
