The slits

The Slits is a British rock band formed in 1976 in London , England and made history - along with The Raincoats - as one of the most influential and significant female groups of the genre [1] .

Group History

The punk band The Slits, a group formed by former members of The Flowers of Romance and The Castrators , included Ari Up ( Ari Up , real name is Arianna Forster), Palmolive ( English Palmolive , real name is Paloma Romera; later she joined The Raincoats), as well as Viv Albertine ( Viv Albertine ), Holly Cook (daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook and Tessa Pollitt ( English Tessa Pollitt ), who replaced the members of the first composition Kate Korus ( English Kate Korus ) and Suzy Gutsy : Instead of Palmoliv, Baji (Pete Clark) later came to play in The Spitfire Boys before becoming a member of Siouxsie & t he banshees .

In 2005, Ari Up and Tessa Pollitt reformed The Slits, inviting new members to collaborate, and released Revenge of the Killer Slits EP. In 2006-2008, the group conducted two American tours, and a year later signed a new contract with the American label Narnack Records. The story of The Slits was interrupted again after it became known that on October 20, 2010, Ari Up died of cancer [2] [3] .
