Biography

Born in 1749; brought up in the parental home and completed his education at Moscow University .

Recorded back in 1759 to serve in the Izmailovsky regiment , Shcherbatov entered the first Turkish war of 1769 as a volunteer in the army of Prince A. Golitsyn and distinguished himself in battle on July 2 under Dolinyak; was then when taking Khotin and Yass .

In 1770, being sent from Count Rumyantsev to the Court by courier, Shcherbatov was promoted to lieutenant captain; in 1778, from the captains of the guard, he was transferred to the army by a colonel and at the same time was given command of an infantry regiment. In 1785, according to seniority, he was promoted to brigadier, and two years later he was promoted to major general. November 26, 1790 awarded the Order of St.. Georgy 4th degree (№ 763 on the list of Grigorovich - Stepanov).

From 1791 to 1793, Shcherbatov, under the main leadership of Suvorov, was engaged in the strengthening and arming of fortresses in Finland and was awarded the Order of St. George for successful works . Vladimir 2 nd degree, and in 1793 determined by the governor of the Vyborg governorship . With praise governing the governorship entrusted to him, Shcherbatov had instructions to conduct foreign correspondence.

In 1794 he was promoted to senior lieutenant . In 1796, he had the honor to receive in Vyborg the Swedish king Gustav-Adolf , who arrived in Russia under the name of Count Gaga, and received a monogram snuffbox decorated with diamonds from him.

He died in 1810. Buried in the Donskoy Monastery; His grave has long been lost.

The marriage with Praskovya Mikhailovna, the daughter of the famous historian Prince M. M. Shcherbatov , remained childless.
