Constitucion ( Spanish: Constitución ) is a city in Chile . The administrative center of the eponymous commune . The population is 33,914 people ( 2002 ). The city and commune is part of the province of Talca and the Maule region .

Location
The city is located 69 km west of the administrative center of the Talc region, at the confluence of the Maule River into the Pacific Ocean .
The commune borders:
- in the northeast - with the commune of Kurepto
- in the east - with the Penkaue commune
- in the southeast - with the commune of San Javier de Lancomiglia
- in the south - with the communes of Canko , Empedrado
In the west of the commune is the Pacific Ocean .
Demographics
According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 51195 people, of which 25967 are men and 25228 are women.
The population of the commune is 5.25% of the total population of the Maule region. 22.08% refers to the rural population and 77.92% to the urban population.
