The Annals of Improbable Research is a comic science journal that publishes articles on unusual research . It comes out once every two months. It is a satire on ordinary scientific journals.

The research published in the journal is freaky and funny. Articles such as:

  • Comparison of apples and oranges
  • How to write a scientific paper
  • Does a cat always fall on its paws ?
  • Kansas is flatter than a pancake

The magazine was founded by (creator of the Shnobel Prize ) in 1994 as an alternative to the Journal of irreparable results , which he and part of the editorial board left after its purchase by publisher George Sherr. Sherr filed several lawsuits against the Annals, accusing him of fraudulent resemblance to his journal and naming the Shnobel Prize, but lost the proceedings.
