Location
The village is located 70 km northeast of the administrative center of the region of Talca and 9 km east of the administrative center of the province of Curico .
The commune borders:
- in the north - with the communes of Teno and San Fernando
- in the east - with the province of Mendoza ( Argentina )
- in the south-west - with the commune of Curico
- in the west - with the commune of Kuriko

According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 13,807 people, of which 7,117 are men and 6,690 are women.
The population of the commune is 1.42% of the total population of the Maule region. 75.32% relate to the rural population and 24.68% to the urban population.
