Sergey Pavlovich Kurdyumov ( November 18, 1928 , Moscow - December 2, 2004 ) - Soviet and Russian scientist, specialist in the field of mathematical physics , mathematical modeling , plasma physics and synergetics. Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1984). He can be considered the founder of the synergetic movement in Russia.

Biography
Born in Moscow. He graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University (1953). Since 1953 he worked at the IPM them. M.V. Keldysh , from 1989 to 1999 - as a director. For about 15 years he headed the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology , was a professor at Dubna International University and the Russian Presidential Academy of Civil Administration .
S. P. Kurdyumov is the organizer (together with A. A. Samarsky ) of a scientific school in the field of nonlinear analysis and synergetics . He is the author of more than 300 papers in plasma physics, applied mathematics , and nonlinear differential equations . Co-author of the scientific discovery of the “T-layer effect” - a new type of plasma instability, which is listed in the State Register of Discoveries of the USSR under No. 55 with a priority of 1968. [1] Winner of the RF Government Prize in the field of education ( 2002 ).
One of the first in the Soviet Union attracted the attention of the scientific and philosophical public to synergetics as the theory of non-stationary rapidly developing structures in open nonlinear systems and to the philosophical consequences of synergetics. He was the initiator of the creation of the Center “Strategies for Dynamic Development”.
He died on December 2, 2004 in Moscow . He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery .
