The parrot tanager [1] ( lat. Chlorornis riefferii ) is a bird from the family of the tanager (Thraupidae) [2] . It is the only species of the genus Chlorornis .

DescriptionThe parrot tanager has a size of about 20 cm and weighs about 53 grams. It builds nests from mosses and ferns, lays light gray eggs with purple or gray dots. It feeds on the tops of shrubs and feeds on their fruits and insects.
DistributionThis bird is widespread in a rather large area of 300,000 km 2 in the subtropical forests of the Andes , Colombia , Ecuador , Peru and Bolivia at an altitude of 1500-3350 m above sea level. Parrot tanagra are found in pairs or groups of up to 6 individuals.
SecurityThis species is included in the IUCN red list, is declining in number with a high speed of 30% in 10 years.
