The club was founded in April 1910 after the merger of two teams - Nijmegen and Endrakht [1] . The first of them was the Endracht Club, founded on November 15, 1900 by a group of like-minded people. In the early years, the club played with teams from other areas of Nijmegen . The Nijmegen Football Union was founded in 1903, and after winning the championship, Endracht joined the Gelderland Football Union.
Two years later, in 1907, the team made it to the second football class in the Netherlands. At that time, the club's players played in red-green shirts and black trousers [2] . In the debut season, the team took sixth place in group C of the eastern group [3] , and a year later, second place in group D [4] . NEC received its current name in 1910 [5] , when it merged with the Nijmegen club, founded in 1908 by members of the Quick club [1] .
