Biography
Born December 28, 1957 in Cheboksary , where he graduated from school number 16. Father, Fyodor Khan (1927, Manchuria - 2005, Moscow) [1] , author of memoirs. Mother, Lyudmila Yakovlevna Shuvalova (1931-2002, Moscow); grandfather - Yakov Solomonovich Kopeliovich, grandmother - Klavdia Alekseevna Shuvalova. Sister - Elena Fedorovna Khvan, film expert, head of the acting agency. He graduated from art school.
He graduated in 1980 from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of Lev Kulidzhanov and Tatyana Lioznova ).
The director gained fame in 1992, when he shot the film “ Duba-Duba ” with Oleg Menshikov in the title role. Duba Duba was awarded the film press prize for the best debut and successfully participated in several film festivals, including Cannes. In addition, the director himself wrote the music for this film.
Since 1996, he is a member of the Board of the Gorky Film Studio. Secretary of the Board of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia .
