Biography
He studied playing the different instruments, in 1809 - 1812 he played in wind bands on clarinet and trombone , from 1813 he acted as a singer and actor, first in Vilnius , then in Warsaw . At the same time, he began to compose music, mainly for the theater: operas, burlesques, etc. In Damze's compositions, the influence of the then popular operas of Mozart and Rossini , as well as Polish folk melodies, is noticeable. His most famous ballet is “The Wedding in Oytsovo” and the opera The Peasant Millionaire, as well as a parody of Meyerbeer ’s opera Robert the Devil called Robert the Robe.
