Grand Guignol is John Zorn ’s second studio album, “Naked City,” released in 1992 on the Japanese label Avant. The album was released after Torture Garden , which consists of "hardcore miniatures" ( English hardcore miniatures ), partially included also in the album "Naked City" .

About the album
Grand Guignol consists of an extensive composition “Grand Guignol” dedicated to the Paris theater of the same name, several cover versions of works by classical composers (see the track list), as well as Zorn's “hardcore miniatures”. As a guest vocalist, jazz pianist participated in one composition.
The album also entered the Naked City: The Complete Studio Recordings box set, released in 2005 on Tzadik . The reissue includes a version of the song "Grand Guignol (Version Vocale)", recorded with the participation of Mike Patton as a vocalist; also reordered tracks.
Two tracks from this album - "Bonehead" and "Hellraiser" - were used in the soundtrack of Michael Haneke 's film "Funny Games" (1997).
