The trooper

The Trooper (translated from English - “Cavalier”) is the ninth single of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden , the second single of the piece of Mind album. The single was also released in 2005 from the Death on the Road live album, recorded in Dortmund . In June 1983, the single reached # 12 on the UK singles chart. The reissued single took position # 5 in August 2005. [1] .

This song is based on Alfred Tennyson’s poem “ Charge of the Light Brigade ” (“Attack of the Light Brigade” or “Attack of the Cavalry Brigade”). It refers to a British soldier during the Battle of Balaclava , which occurred during the Crimean War .

On the cover of the single depicts a bald Eddie in the form of a British soldier during the Crimean War with the flag of Great Britain in his hands. Bruce Dickinson , the vocalist of the group, performing this song at concerts, often goes on stage with the banner of Great Britain, artificially stained with powder soot, dust and shot, while Bruce is almost always dressed in the form of an infantryman of the British Army during the Crimean War.

In 2013, the group released its own beer, Trooper, named after the song of the same name. The label on the label used a single cover [2] .
