Valentin Granatkin played as a goalkeeper for various football clubs: Metropolitan, Krasny Ray (team of the Moscow City Power Station ), Astakhov Work Club , Electrozavod , Lokomotiv . Held one unofficial match for the USSR team .

He participated in trips of the USSR national team to Norway and Sweden (1930), Turkey (1932), the Lokomotiv match with the Basque country team (1937).

Hockey

Valentin played hockey with the ball for the USSR national team (1928), as well as ice hockey (for the Spartak club (1946-1947)). Participant of the match Moscow team - German workers' sports union (1932).
