George Heiter ( born George Hayter ; December 17, 1792 , London - January 18, 1871 , ibid.) - English artist, worked in the field of portraiture and historical painting. The son of the miniaturist Charles Hater . Thanks to his services to the crown, he was appointed Queen Victoria to the post of chief court artist and was knighted in 1841.

He received his first lessons from his father. In 1808 he entered the school of the Royal Academy of Arts . He was a student of Johann Heinrich Fussley . In 1816 he went to Italy , where he studied at the workshop of Antonio Canova . Returning to London in 1818, Hayter worked as a portrait painter.
