The novel is an adapted (and connected only by the most general plot line) collection of stories published in Cosmopolitan (USA) and Strand (England). Their main character, the hapless Englishman Archie Moffam is in a state of growing conflict with his irritable and demanding father-in-law millionaire Daniel Brewster. In addition, each mistake of the protagonist miraculously turns into a winning move: so gradually, with the support of his charming wife Lucille, incompetent but fantastically successful Archie builds a career as a hotel manager from a series of disasters.
In the USSR, E. Tolkachev's translation (1928) published the story "The Adventures of a Model" ("Strange Experience of an Artist's Model"), originally published in The Strand (January 1921) and then "inscribed" in the novel in the form of chapters: “Strange Experiences of an Artist's Model” and “The Bomb”.
In the translation of I.Gurova, the novel “Indiscretions of Archie” was published in Russia under the title “The Enduring Archie” (2004). [one]
