Group History
The group began its career in the German city of Aachen in 1980 . The initial line-up included Jochen Funders (guitar, vocals), Ramon Bruesler (bass) and Peter Vordenstein (drums). However, after a year the composition has changed significantly. The new guitarist was Andy Klassen, and the duties of the vocalist were assigned to a guy named Iggy. But it soon became clear that he could not cope. Andy offered to take his girlfriend Sabina Hirtz on vocals. At first she did not want to participate in the group and, in order to prove this, she sang in a very aggressive manner. However, this shocked the group so much that they persuaded Sabina to stay.
In 1984, Sabina's brother, Tom, joined the group as a second vocalist, but only lasted 4 weeks in the band.
The group released its debut album Queen of Siam only in 1986. Herbert Draeger, the new drummer of the band, took part in the recording, and the producer was Ralph Hubert from Mekong Delta . After recording, the band changed the drummer again. This time they became Uli Kush (future member of Helloween ). But this did not end the composition change. Suddenly, Ramon, the bassist and founder of the band, leaves the band.
The band's next album is Finished With The Dogs , released in 1987. All the songs on it were written by Andy Klassen. The album received very good reviews from music critics and magazines around the world, which attracted the attention of Warner Brothers Records , one of the largest music labels. After making a deal with this company, Holy Moses go on tour with the support of DRI.
The band's next album was titled The New Machine Of Lichtenstein and was released in 1989. After the release of the album, the group embarked on their biggest tour with Forbidden and Sacred Reich . Soon problems with the label forced Holy Moses to leave for the less major West Virginia / SPV . The next full-length of the World Chaos collective was released on it. Immediately after the release of this album, the drummer leaves the group. For some time, he was replaced by Atomic Steif, but he also left the group, deciding to continue his career in another German thrash metal band Sodom .
In 1991, the next album “ Terminal Terror ” was released on West Virginia , and in 1992, after the recording of “ Reborn Dogs ”, the group broke up. In 1993, the band released a collection of the best things “Too Drunk To Fuck”. In 1994, Andy Klassen, as a composer and producer, released the album " No Matter What's The Cause " under the label Holy Moses. A year later, Andy and Sabina divorced. After leaving Holy Moses, Sabina founded the Temple Of The Absurd group, which released two albums: Absurd (1995) and Mother, Creator, God (1999), and then she ceased to exist.
After the collapse of the Temple Of The Absurd, Sabina and Andy reconciled and began to work together on new material. The first product of the reunion was the EP “Master of Disaster”, and in 2002 the new album “ Disorder of the Order ” was released. The rest of the year, the group actively performed with concerts. After the tour, Andy Klassen announced that he could no longer do only Holy Moses, as he had to produce other groups. The new guitarist and producer of Holy Moses was Andy's friend Michael Hankel. With him, the group recorded a new album, Strength, Power, Will, Passion .
In 2007, drummer Atomik Steif returned to the band to record a new album. In 2008, the group conducted a successful tour with Obituary and Avatar . In the autumn of the same year, the band’s tenth album, called " Agony of Death ", was released.
In 2014, the team released the 11th studio album, entitled "Redefined Mayhem."
