Peter Mikhailovich Filatov was born on August 18, 1893 in Rzhev . Russian
World War I
In the Russian imperial army since 1914. He fought in the First World War as an ordinary, then was promoted to junior non-commissioned officer . In 1917 he graduated from the Dusheti school of ensigns , after which he again fought as a junior officer and company commander .
The last rank in the Russian army is the second lieutenant .
Service in the Red Army
In the Red Army since 1918 . Member of the Civil War . Since 1918, he fought as an assistant commander of the 145th Rifle Regiment, since 1919 - the commander of the 147th Rifle Regiment. From July 1920 - commander of the 51st Rifle Brigade, from August 1921 - commander of the 50th Rifle Brigade. For feats on the fronts of the Civil War he was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner , which was at that time a unique case (there were less than 100 such cavaliers in the Red Army twice).
In 1922 he graduated from the Higher Academic Courses of the Red Army. from August 1922 - assistant commander of the 17th Infantry Division , which was deployed in Nizhny Novgorod . From October 1923 to September 1924, he temporarily served as the commander of this division, while its commander G. P. Sofronov studied at the Military Academy of the Red Army , then again served as an assistant commander. Since November 1925 - commander of the 26th Zlatoust Infantry Division .
In 1928 he graduated from the Advanced Training Courses of the higher command staff at the Military Academy of the Red Army named after M.V. Frunze . From 1927 to 1935 - Head of the Vladivostok Infantry School named after the Comintern . In 1936 he graduated from the Special Department of the Military Academy of the Red Army named after M.V. Frunze
Since August 1936 - commander of the 27th Infantry Division of the Belarusian Military District (headquarters in Vitebsk ). Since September 1937 - commander of the 15th Rifle Corps of the Kiev Military District . Since June 1938 - Deputy Commander of the Special Red Banner Far Eastern Army , participated in the events on Lake Hassan . From September 1938, he was deputy commander of the 1st Separate Red Banner Army ; from June 1940, he was deputy commander of the troops of the Far Eastern Front .
In May 1941 he was appointed commander of the 13th Army of the Western Special Military District .
World War II
At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the 13th Army of Lieutenant General Filatov waged heavy defensive battles in the Minsk direction during the Bialystok-Minsk battle . After the encirclement of Minsk, Filatov was able to maintain the combat effectiveness of the army and bring most of it to a new defensive line: Borisov - Smolevichi - the Ptich river.
On July 8, in the Mogilev region, during a German air raid, the commander was seriously wounded and evacuated to a Moscow hospital . He died of his wounds on July 14, 1941 in the Moscow hospital named after S.P. Botkin . [1] Buried in the Novodevichy cemetery .
