Activities
In total, about 1000 people work on atomic icebreakers, an atomic lighter carrier, ATO vessels (atomic-technological services) based on the Atomflot nuclear fleet. The command staff undergoes special training at the State Maritime Academy. adm. S.O. Makarova in St. Petersburg . In addition to cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route , Atomflot organizes tourist cruises, the profit from which is 6-7% of the total profit of the company. [one]
From 2008 to July 2018, Atomflot FSUE was headed by Vyacheslav Ruksha (now he has been appointed Director of the Directorate of the Northern Sea Route of Rosatom State Corporation). Since February 2019, Mustafa Kashka has been appointed Director General of Atomflot.
In 2018, 331 vessels were carried out by atomic icebreakers. Their total gross tonnage is 12.7 million tons, which is 5 tons more than a year earlier (+65%). This growth is associated with the start of transportation of liquefied natural gas from the port of Sabetta .
The revenue of FSUE Atomflot in 2018 amounted to 6.806 billion rubles (2.8% more than in 2017), labor productivity increased by 3.6% in 2018 to 3,880 thousand rubles per person [2] .
Atomflot expects by 2020 to reach 800 vessels entering the Gulf of Ob, which is the driver of all Arctic projects. [3]
Icebreakers
The main asset of Atomflot are atomic icebreakers:
- Nuclear-powered icebreakers of the Arctic class:
- “The Arctic” (1982-1986 “Leonid Brezhnev”) ( 1975 ) - in crap since 2008, preparing for disposal, deleted from the register;
- Siberia ( 1977 ) - mothballed in 1993 , preparing for disposal, deleted from the register;
- "Russia" ( 1985 ) - in a sludge, the spent fuel is being unloaded, is preparing for utilization;
- “Soviet Union” ( 1989 ) - undergoing modernization, the estimated completion date is 2017. In August 2017, a decision was made to dispose of it [4] ;
- Yamal ( 1992 ) - in the ranks;
- Arctic nuclear-powered icebreaker, second series:
- “50 years of Victory” ( 2007 ) - in the ranks;
- Nuclear-powered icebreakers of the Taimyr class:
- Taimyr ( 1989 ) - in the ranks;
- “Vaigach” ( 1990 ) - in the ranks;
- Nuclear-powered lighter carrier with an icebreaking nose of the Northern Sea Route class:
- "Northern Sea Route" ( 1988 ) - in the ranks;
In addition, the LK-60Ya icebreakers of project 22220 with RITM-200 reactor units (its 175 MW capacity) are now being built at the Baltic Shipyard. The flagship icebreaker "Arctic" will be built in 2020, the first production "Siberia" until the end of 2021, the second production "Ural" - until 2022 [5] . The capacity of the LK-60Ya on the shaft will be 60 MW, the icebreaker will be able to pass ice up to three meters thick.
On August 23, 2019, Atomflot signed an agreement with JSC Baltic Plant for the construction of the third and fourth icebreakers of Project 22220 [6] . The cost of the contract is 100 billion rubles (45 billion from the federal budget, 55 billion rubles from Rosatom and Atomflot). At the moment, this is the most expensive contract for the construction of civil ships [7] .
Also, the implementation of the project for the construction of a new generation icebreaker "Leader" (project 10510) was launched. Its shaft power will be 120 MW, the power of RITM-400 reactors (315 MW each) [8] . Atomflot plans to begin construction of the Leader in 2020 at the shipyard of SKK Zvezda LLC (Far East) [6] .
Other infrastructure
In addition to nuclear icebreakers, the organization has at its disposal the infrastructure supporting icebreakers:
The ships of the ATO (nuclear technology service) " Imandra " is used as a floating technical base. “ Lotta ” are used to store solid radioactive waste, cannot move independently. The Lepse vessel is used to transport nuclear fuel ; it cannot move independently.
The Volodarsky dry cargo ship is used to transport solid radioactive waste ; it holds 300 m³ of cargo; in July 2013 it was towed to the Sayda Bay for subsequent disposal on the territory of the locality of the same name [9] . Serebryanka is a special tanker containing 1,000 m³ of liquid radioactive waste.
Rosta-1 is a floating technical base for dosimetric monitoring and control of the radiation background.
Also in the area of responsibility of the organization is the ship-museum icebreaker "Lenin" . ( 1959 )
Perspectives
FSUE Atomflot was transferred under the control of the State Corporation Rosatom on March 30, 2008 [10] . Since August 28, 2008 the vessels of the nuclear icebreaker fleet were transferred to the economic management of the enterprise [11] .
