Gmunden tram

Gmunden tram ( German: Straßenbahn Gmunden ) - tram network in the city of Gmunden ( Austria ). It is one of the smallest tram systems in the world. It consists of one line 2.3 km long. The tram system is operated by the private company Stern & Hafferl.

Content

History

The tram line in Gmunden was opened on August 13, 1894 , after construction, which lasted only five months. Initially, the line was 2.5 km long, in 1975 the line was shortened to 2.3 km.

At present, it is planned to expand the system due to the restoration of the site removed in 1975. The possibility of building new sites is being considered.

System Description

The Gmunden tram system consists of just one line 2.3 km long. Track gauge - 1000 mm . The voltage of the contact network is 600 volts.

Stops: Bahnhof - Grüner Wald - Gmundner Keramik - Rosenkranz - Tennisplatz - Kuferzeile - Bezirkshauptmannschaft - Franz-Josef-Platz. The only depot is located between the Grüner Wald and Gmundner Keramik stops.

Rolling stock

In normal operation there are three trams carrying tail numbers 8.9 and 10 (built in 1961, 1952 and 1952, respectively). There are also two older trams, No. 5 (built in 1911) and No. 100 (built in 1898). These trams are used on special occasions.
