Ross-Barnett [1] ( Eng. Ross Barnett Reservoir ) - a large reservoir , built in the 1970s in the United States in the upper Pearl River to supply water to industrial enterprises and the housing sector of the city of Jackson - the capital of the state of Mississippi .

Named after the 52nd Mississippi Governor. The coastline of the reservoir is 105 km , stretched from southwest to northeast. Located in the center of the state, along the northwestern shore of the reservoir lies the ancient Native American Way - Natchez Trace . The reservoir also has the largest population of alligators in the state, reaching a length of 4-5 m. It is used for recreational purposes (yachts, golf). In the autumn, the rangers of the water protection zone regularly catch alligators , which has become a kind of sporting event. The largest individuals reach a length of 4 meters.
