Biography
Born in 1932 in Alma-Ata . He studied at the Alma-Ata School of Art with Professor A. Cherkassky.
In 1955 he graduated from the faculty of book artists of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute , where his teachers were P. Zakharov, I. Chekmazov, A. Goncharov.
1954 - 1987 worked as an illustrator at various publishing houses, mainly Detiz, Goslit, etc.
1956 beginning of independent creativity, analysis of the creation of a traditional painting - “sign”
late 1950s - early 1960s access to the “Pair of Forms” method
1961 works on the creation of the “Trinity” sign
1962 enters Gorky schedules, now TSHR
1965 - 1970 participates in several ethnographic expeditions
from the end of 1960 to the present day, he has been developing the “I see myself” method
The 1979 - 1980s continued to complicate searches in the “Pairs of Forms” method (communications, clothing and myself, time, etc.), studying the works of Nikolai Kuzansky and Russian theology, many years of creative contacts with V. Shklovsky

Criticism
Valery Yurlov’s work is fertilized by deep traditions that go to the forefront of the relationship between man and the cosmos. The artist’s images build a continuous dialogue in which integrity is found in the balance of opposing principles - figurative and abstract, Euclidean geometry and other dimensions, number and progression, particle and wave states.
