Born in the family of language teachers Alexander Fedorovich and Alexandra Viktorovna Danilkin. He studied at secondary school No. 11 of the city of Odintsovo, then in the philological class of school No. 67 in Moscow [1] . He graduated from the philological faculty and graduate school of Moscow State University . In 1999-2000 he worked as the chief editor of Playboy magazine , a literary columnist for the Vedomosti newspaper. In 2000-2014 he led the column "Books with Lev Danilkin" in the magazine " Poster ". From September 2017 to December 2018, he was the editor of the culture department of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta .
He is the author of annual critical reviews of contemporary Russian literature, as well as the biography of the writer Alexander Prokhanov, “The Man with the Egg” (short list of the Big Book award, short list of the National Best Seller award), biographies in the series Life of Remarkable People by Yuri Gagarin ( Prize “Alexander Nevsky”) and Vladimir Lenin ( Big Book , first prize), the collection of short stories “Kluge”. The compiler and author of the preface to the collection of selected works of Lenin: “Lenin: Donkey Bridge” (Limbus-press, St. Petersburg, 2017).
