He was born on March 10, 1827 and came from the nobility of the Tambov province . At the end of his initial education in the Noble Regiment , he entered the service of the ensign in the Pskov garrison battalion in 1846.
Three years later, his fighting life began. He participated in a number of campaigns: in the Hungarian 1849 and the Crimean 1854-1856. It also fell to him to suppress the rebellion of the Poles in the Kingdom of Poland in 1863 , for which he was promoted to lieutenant colonel , and next year to work on enacting decisions on February 19, 1864 on the arrangement of peasants in the Kingdom of Poland .
In 1869 he was appointed commander of the Revel provincial battalion, in 1871 the commander of the St. Petersburg provincial battalion , in 1874 the St. Petersburg district military commander, and in 1877 the commander of the 32nd Kremenchug infantry regiment .
Produced in 1884 as a major general , he retired and died on June 16 the following year, 1885.
His brother, Mikhail Khristoforovich , was also a general and for the difference in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree.
