The CONCACAF Champions League 2008/09 is the first draw of the main club football tournament CONCACAF , played in a format similar to the UEFA Champions League . The winner of the tournament was the Mexican club Atlanta , which received the right to represent CONCACAF at the 2009 World Club Championships .

1 Since New England Revolution ranked two positions, Chivas USA took the free place as the team ranked second in the MLS 2007 regular season.
2 Since Saprissa won both Invierno and Verano in the 2007/08 season, Alahuelense took the free place as the team that ranked second in the regular season 2008 Verano.
3 To identify which of the clubs will go directly to the group tournament, play-offs were held between the winners of Aperture and Klausura.
4 Since Firpo won both the Aperture and Klausura of the 2007/08 season, Isidro Metapan occupied the empty seat as the team that finished second in the Klausura 2008 regular season.
5 Since San Francisco won both Clausura and the Aperture of the 2007/08 season, Tauro took the empty seat as the winning team of the 2008 Aperture regular season.
6 The match for the 3rd place was not held at the 2007 Club Championship of the Caribbean Islands, a play-off between the championship semi-finalists was held to determine the third representative of the region.

The draw for the preliminary round and the group stage was held on June 11, 2008 .
Preliminary round
The preliminary round was attended by 16 teams. Before the draw, they were divided into 2 baskets, teams from one basket met with teams from another. Winners went to the group stage.
