The Vortex Tower is the working name of a highly innovative project developed by the English architect Ken Shuttleworth in 2004 . It is a "vortex" (vortex - vortex) skyscraper 300 meters high (70 floors).
The shape of the Vortex tower is a hyperboloid . The tower structure is a hyperboloid mesh shell with a wide base. This concept of the tower design allows the use of straight inclined guides of a curved hyperboloid as load-bearing power elements of a skyscraper.
The construction of the Vortex tower was planned on the eastern outskirts of London .
