Satbayev University ( kaz.. I. Satbayev Atyndagy Kazaklttyk Tekhnikiқ Surtteu University ( formerly Kazakh Lenin Polytechnic Institute) ”was the oldest technical university in Kazakhstan . In 2017, the university was renamed Satbayev University ^[2] .

Content

History

It was founded in 1934 as the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute , in 1960 it was transformed into the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, in 1970 the institute was named after V. I. Lenin ^[3] .

The establishment of the institute is associated with the names of such famous scientists as Kh. K. Avetisyan, O. A. Baikonurov, I. I. Bok, A. V. Brichkin, L. G. Kushev, V. D. Ponomarev, A. S. Popov, V. V. Stender, A. A. Zeft, E. D. Shlygin and others. KazGMI in the shortest possible time became the main base for providing engineering personnel for the mining, metallurgical, geological, construction and other industries of the republic.

During the Great Patriotic War , 22 teachers and over 200 students led by the institute's rector A. I. Koktov and the secretary of the party organization M. Kurmangaliyev volunteered to the front as volunteers. Among them the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union were awarded to M. Baimukhanov, V. A. Zasyadko , N. D. Markelov , A. G. Toropkin , N. I. Yaschenko ^[3] .

The Alma-Ata Energy Institute was established on the basis of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in 1975, the Industrial Institute in the city of Rudny in 1977, and the Alma-Ata Institute of Architecture and Construction Institute in 1980 ^[3] .

In January 1994, the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute. V.I. Lenin was transformed into the “Kazakh National Technical University”, which was entrusted with training functions for the country according to a multi-level structure adopted in world practice, as well as the development of curricula and training programs in the field ^[4] . For special merits in the preparation of engineering and technical personnel of the country, the Order of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan of September 22, 1999 was given the name of an outstanding Kazakhstani scientist, academician Kanysh Imantayevich Satpayev ^[5] .

Since 1994, the publication of KazNTU has been published - Scientific journal "KazTU Khabarshyssy" - "Bulletin of KazNTU" ^[6]

December 19, 2014 KazNRTU them. Satpayev was transformed by the government from the Republican State Enterprise into a Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company in order to further privatize the state university ^[7] .

Tonkonogiy Aizik Volfovich (02.22.1910 - 03.28.1991) - Doctor of Technical Sciences (1967), Professor (1968), Head of the Department of Thermal Power Plants (TEU) from 1970 to 1990.
Cherkasov Evgeny Gavrilovich (12/13/1902 - 3/24/1994) - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor. He was the first dean of the energy faculty of KazPTI , the organizer of the department "Power stations and substations" and the first head of this department. Contributed to the formation and development of graduating departments and the entire energy department of KazPTI, on the basis of which in 1975 it became possible to create an independent higher education institution - Almaty Energy Institute .
