Radiator nipple is a special type of sanitary nipple with left and right pipe threads G 1 1/4 or 1 inch cylindrical in accordance with GOST 6357-81 from two ends, designed to connect individual sections to heating radiators .
It is currently made of steel or cast iron , previously only cast iron was used. The joints of the sectional heating appliances are sealed by an annular rubber or paronite gasket, compressed from the sides by sections of the battery with a nipple. The sections are screwed into a single structure using a key with a “straight” (“flat”) tip through the open hole of the heater. In the first half of the 20th century, the sealing of sections was carried out, as a rule, by winding tow, soaked with a mixture of drying oil and minium .
