Biography
Born in Munich , Germany , in the family of American diplomats Mildred (née Taylor) and Robert D. Murphy [1] . In 1939 , at the beginning of World War II , they left Germany and moved to Paris , and later to the USA .
Studied at Manhattanville College, and also attended Neighborhood Playhouse and Actor's Studio before starting her theater career. In 1950, she made her Broadway debut and, in her theater career, took part in 15 Broadway productions, the last of which was shown in 1999 .
She also starred in films and worked on television. She is best known for her role as Eleanor Roosevelt in the mini-series Eleanor and Franklin ( 1976 ), for which she received an Emmy Award. Rosemary also starred in the films “ To Kill a Mockingbird ” ( 1962 ), where she played Modi Atkinson and “ Walking Wide ” ( 1973 ), where her character was a prostitute Kelly Hacker.
She died on July 5, 2014 at the age of 89 from cancer of the esophagus [2] .
