The true course — the angle between the north direction of the meridian at the measurement location and the direction of the projection of the longitudinal axis of the object on the horizontal plane [1] , is counted clockwise from the direction to geographic north. In fact, shows the direction of the nose of the aircraft (or other object) relative to the north.
Directly measured using high-precision inertial navigation systems or gyrocompasses .
It is widely used in aerial photometry , cartography , and other geomatics applications.
It is indicated in angular degrees in the range 0 ... 360 °, sometimes -180 ... 180 °. 0 ° is always used to indicate the direction of the object to the north, 90 ° - to the east.
