Biography
Born in the family of a naval officer Evgeny Ivanovich Arens ( 1856 - 1931 , see about him: [1] ); the founder of the Russian branch of Arens, a German physician, came to Russia under Catherine .
Vera graduated from the Smolny Institute ( 1900 ). She lived in Tsarskoye Selo . In the house where her two sisters Zoya and Anna lived, as well as brother Leo , later a biologist and writer close to the futurists , there were future composer Vladimir Deshevov , poet Vasily Komarovsky , Nikolai Gumilev , Nikolai Punin .
Creativity
Published in periodicals since 1911 , the first poems and translations were published in the children's magazine Toy. Since 1913, poems and short stories have been published in the magazines Vestnik Evropy, Sovremennik, Argus and others. She was close to acmeists , dedicated poetry to her and inscribed books by N. S. Gumilyov (in particular, the poem Gardens of the Soul is dedicated to her , 1907 ). Translated by Baudelaire , Heine - her Heine translation in 1918 was edited by A. Blok , she and Arens were in correspondence. She corresponded with M. Gorky . She took part in the anthologies of Finnish and Latvian poetry prepared by V. Bryusov . Translated Georgian romantics . Of her prose translations, fables by G. E. Lessing are known, and the translations of F. Jamm's prose are preserved in the archives.
