Content
Story
A simple, calm guy (to whom Erland Lou did not even bother to give a name) lives his calm, measured life, until a girl named Marianna breaks into her. She loves silence and loves to talk. She tires him and pisses herself off. She moves to him and turns his life into a nightmare. The mere fact that her artsy chest of drawers does not fit into the interior of his room at all does not allow him to sleep soundly. However, no matter how much he tries to get rid of the dresser, he cannot even tear it off the floor! Gradually, he learns to live with her, put up and have fun. Together they go to travel around Europe, experiencing various small joys and quarrels. In the middle of the journey, they decide to separate and travel separately, and then he realizes that he really lacks Marianne.
Returning home first, he cannot wait for her, but she, having returned, has already managed to cool off to him. Turning his life into chaos at first with his appearance, Marianne just as quickly leaves, and again he needs to learn. Learning to live without her. At first, he succeeds, he even finds himself a new girl - vulgar and mentally limited, but in the end nothing helps: he dries according to Marianne, who exchanged him for an ornithologist studying an eagle living on a secluded island. The chest of drawers of Marianne, which she did not consider it necessary to pick up, is already being served to raise it a little, but still cannot be thrown out ...
Suddenly Marianne leaves the ornithologist and returns to him, claiming that she is pregnant, but not from him! At this moment, the hero makes an inhuman effort and throws the unbearable dresser of Marianne out of the window! Marianne rushes down, manages to catch a chest of drawers, takes it, and finally finally leaves the hero's life. He is leaving for the girl he met in France during a trip. This is an alternative ending: in the novel based on the film adaptation, the hero is more weak-willed and accepts Marianne, agreeing in the future to raise not his child.
