History
The name of the group translates as "Spock's Beard." It was invented by Neil Morse and his brother Alan ( English en: Alan Morse ) (guitar, vocals). The band’s name was coined after one party when Alan Morse told his brother, Neal, “It feels like we were in a different universe, just like in that episode of Star Trek in which Spock had a beard. And what seems to be a good name for the group? ”When it came time to choose the real name of the group, out of more than a hundred options, they chose just that.
Neil Morse left the band in 2002 after recording Snow and began a solo career. The main vocalist and author was drummer Nick D'Virgilio. In the modified composition of Spock's Beard recorded four albums. During concert performances, Jimmy Keegan played drum parts instead of D'Virgilio, who took his place at the microphone.
On November 21, 2011, D'Virgilio also left the band in connection with his work with the circus Cirque du Soleil . The new vocalist was Ted Leonard from the American prog rock band Enchant , and Jimmy Keegan became the main and only drummer. However, the group began recording a new album [1] .
In October 2016, Jimmy Keegan announced that he was leaving the group for personal reasons. In the upcoming concert tour, he was replaced by the original drummer D'Virgilio, who, instead of the departed Keegan, took part in the recording of Noise Floor's 13th studio album in 2017. The double album was released in May 2018. On June 13, the band announced a tour in support of the album. As a concert drummer, Mike Thorne, a former Saga drummer, joined the band.
