Demographic structures of the population - the groups determining the reproduction of the population, formed in accordance with the values of a particular attribute.
Types of demographic structures
- sexual structure
- age structure
- marital and family structure
- confessional structure
- language structure
- revenue structure
Sexual, age, marriage and family structures are directly related to the reproduction of the population , to the subject of demography, while the rest are exogenous, additional variables that affect demographic processes only indirectly. They act indirectly through demographic structures, which provides even more accurate knowledge of demographic science .
Population structures not only influence demographic processes, but are also the result of the actions of these processes in the past, and also give an idea at a certain point in historical time. An analysis of demographic processes in a cohort or in a historical perspective is similar to an analysis of demographic structures, consisting of studying the changes that occur over time in the population as a whole and in individual generations.
