Biography
Victor is a sixteen year old mutant, born in Russia. grew up in Fernwood ( New York ), in a small, typical American town in which he lived a normal life despite his reptilian features. A cohesive community accepted the boy as he was, until anti-mutant moods began to spread in his city. For his own safety, his parents sent him to the Xavier Institute, where he quickly surpassed other students in academic performance. He chose French from foreign languages. New X-Men: Academy X Yearbook Special (2005) listed his preferences: he loves theater, frisbee and basketball ; does not like tradition and bad action movies. He was chosen as the best student actor.
Alpha squadron team
When the Xavier Institute approved a system for selecting mentors for students, Victor first chose Wolverine as a mentor. However, he soon realized that they were incompatible and chose Karma as their mentor. During the re-formation of training teams throughout the school, he was assigned to the Alpha Squadron team under the leadership of the Polar Star. At first, he spent a lot of time with Julian Keller and other Hooligans, but later became closer to his teammates. He was not indifferent to the Polar Star and was deeply affected by his supposed death. He, like most students, did not know about the resurrection of the Polar Star by the clan Rook .
Victor is gay, and the Polar Star helped him realize his sexuality; while Victor did not reveal to anyone his secret. His sexual orientation was confirmed by the authors, and confirmed in X-Men: 198 files.
According to a different development of the plot, Anol had to commit suicide because of the rejection of his orientation by his parents and two of his closest friends, Josh and Julian . But Weir and Defilippece were forced to revise this storyline, because of Marvel's wishes not to highlight such a controversial issue in the comic. Later, Weir and Defilippece said they were happy to abandon this story, because they don’t like the direction of character development attributed to Julian, noting also that “Julian, who has changed since then, is not the guy who would have problems with Victor is gay. Rather, he would spread over the wall of anyone who has such problems. "
After Day M
Anol was one of 27 students at the Institute who retained their mutant abilities after Day M. The system of training teams was canceled, and the remaining students were merged into one group. Some time later, Emma Frost arranged a general brawl among the remaining students to determine who would be the X-team trainee team; Victor was not selected, but remained at the institute.
When Polar Star and his sister Aurora (who brainwashed Serafina) attacked the Institute, Anol saw the Polar Star and temporarily violated his control of the Children of the Vault. However, this did not last long - soon Jean-Paul returned to his state of control and attacked Victor, leaving him unconscious.
After the Guard from the future, Nimrod , attacked the Blacksmith at his home in Dallas, the New X-Men went to save him. Cecilia (Mercury) asked Victor to cover up their absence. Anol did a fine job, pulled out time and drove Valli Cooper to his chatter during interrogation, which earned him the respect of his friends.
In Search of Magic
Victor was one of those who listened to the story of the Dressing about Magic (Illyana Rasputin) and the demon Belasco and he was the first to realize that this was not a delusion, but a prediction. After the guys got into Limbo and the demons attacked them, Anol takes command. He orders his friends to rally around the defenseless Armband, but does not notice the demon creeping towards him, who with a tentacle cuts off his arm to the very shoulder.
The Magic appeared in time helps the mutants to cope with the demons and invites the children to help save their friends who are held captive by Belasco, but for this she needs the soul of one of them. Victor, having left a painful shock, wonders why he has not yet died from his wound and great blood loss.
Illyana chose the Elf ritual as the most innocent of the guys. The rest try to prevent Magic, but she encloses them all in magical cocoons, in which they can not move. The bandage tells Victor that he must save the Elf, that the power for this is inside him. Anol was able to free himself and throw away Magic, thus violating the ritual. Now, instead of a lost right hand, he grew a huge reptile hand, covered with spikes and with sharp claws. Anol reminds Magic that she promised to help them.
Illyana teaches Megan the spell of teleportation and she takes them to the Belasco Palace, where the battle between the New X-Men and the Belasco demons is in full swing. The elf, with the help of the Soul Dagger, created from a part of her soul, kills Belasco. The guys are saved, but Magic does not want to stop - she wants to get Megan's soul entirely. The appearance of Colossus , the brother of Illyana, distracts her. Flustered by meeting his brother, Illyana teleports everyone back to Earth.
Later in the evening, Anol and Elf are sitting in the living room and discuss the events that happened to them. The landslide comes and informs that he spoke to Wave and Cyclops and threatened to leave the team if they were not taken to the same two. So they are now part of New X-Men - the guys are very pleased with this news.
Children of X-Men
Victor plays billiards, while Landslide and X-23 convince him to amputate his second arm. X-23 says that he can do it very quickly, and the Landslip jokingly offers Victor to cut off his legs as well, then he will become an “Amazing Dragon Boy”. Victor refuses their offer, adding that he is quite pleased with his normal hand. The landslide calls him a woman. Anol is offended and throws him out of the window, while the landslide says: “I swear I did not know anything! You don't have to be so sensitive! ”
Below are the Beast and Colossus , waiting for the guys. A few minutes later, the Beast persuades the Landslide to blow himself up, as he did in Limbo, as he wants to test his assumptions about the new forces of Santo. When the landslide refuses, Anol smiles smugly and calls him a woman. Stuck, Santo fulfills the Beast's request - having exploded, he recreates himself in his former stone form, but more massive. The Beast thanks Victor for his help.
Later, Anol, Landslide , Match , Indra , Elf and Loa are sitting in the living room - they remember that the last time they gathered like that - they went to hell. To defuse the situation, a landslide delivers an optimistic speech, and then suggests opening up to each other to strengthen friendship. He is going to start first and announce to the whole group that Anol is gay. Victor boils and says Santo hates him. Loa, to calm down Anola, said that this has long been known to all.
Messiah Complex
Professor Xavier discovers the birth of the first mutant after the execution of every tenth. X-Men go in search of this child. Part of the New X-Men and Armor are the first to decide to attack the Purifiers to find out if they have this child and to avenge their classmates killed by the Purifiers. Anol sneaks onto their base, using its ability to blend in with the environment, and checks the Cleaner computers. Riktor, who secretly infiltrated the ranks of the Purifiers, finds him and, holding his mouth, asks him what he is doing here. Anol instinctively flings him away, only then recognizing an ally in him. When they return to the team, it turns out that the Reavers came to the aid of the Cleaners. Their leader, Lady Mortal Strike , severely hurts Hellion . The elf manages to teleport the team, but they are scattered between Washington and the Xavier Institute. New X-Men are returning to the Institute with the Iceman sent for them.
Later the school is attacked by the Predator X. Remembering that X-23 had previously killed one of the predators, Elf tries to teleport him to X-23 on Muir Island, but accidentally teleports the entire team to the very center of the struggle between X-Men and Marauders . Anol, along with other New X-Men, fights with Marauders who did not expect reinforcements from students.
Separately, we stand
Victor returns to his hometown, whose inhabitants are very warm to him. Polar Star , who was called by Cyclops , finds a boy hiding after an accidental attack on his father. Polar Star discovers Anola near the tree house, but Victor is not very happy to see his former mentor. At first, Jean-Paul jokes, thinking that Victor has problems with adaptation in society, like a mutant and gay. Victor explains that the inhabitants of his city accept him as he is. His problems are because of the Polar Star and the other X-Men, whom they, the students, charmed, whom they tried to imitate and which they so easily abandoned. He told the Polar Star that they were just children: they had to play video games and learn lessons, and not “fight the Devil!”. Victor told the Polar Star that his parents will be looking for him here, as soon as they begin the search; they know that he loved this place, called him his own X-Mansion ... Before he left, he punched Jean-Paul in the face - just like the Polar Star attacked him in the past - and demands that he pass on to all former X-Men. they no longer sought him.
Alternative reality
Day M (Earth-58163). In this modified version of Earth-616, created by the Scarlet Witch, mutants are the majority in power, and people are the oppressed minority. Here the roles were distributed in the opposite way to how it was taken in the main reality. Young mutants, with their diverse mutant abilities, can now choose one of two schools and, accordingly, two options for their future in the mutant community. They choose between the Mutant New Leadership Institute, under the leadership of Shen Koi Mann (Karma), where they educate future diplomats and world leaders - they do not receive combat training and tend to register mutants with passive abilities. Another option is to join the Shch.I.T.A training program, led by Sebastian Shaw. Here they receive combat training focused on war and covert operations and register mutants with active abilities. The training team of this school is called Hooligans. This group consists of Scion (on Earth-616 - Hooligan), Magic (Illyana Rasputin), Sync, Needle, Wave, Windy Dancer (now known as Renaissance), Anola and Daniela Munstar. Munstar is an acting agent of Š.I.T.A, appointed to the position of a hooligan mentor. Although she is a trainer, she participates in combat operations with her students. Her assistants are the twin mutants Aurora and the Polar Star. In this reality, Anol has not yet entered the active squad of Hooligans and is in the initial stage of training in the department of Shch.I.Ta. He is shown along with several other newbies studying at the Polar Star and Aurora.
Strengths and abilities
Anola reptile mutation manifests itself in the form of green scaly skin; a toothed comb on the head instead of hair; a long sticky tongue that allows it to cling to hard surfaces; increased speed, agility, coordination; mimicry like a chameleon allows it to become "invisible", merging with the environment.
Anol is also able to grow newly lost limbs, but they have a more massive reptilian shape and have more power. His new hand, has sharp claws that he can use in battle as a weapon. The Beast confirmed that every time Anol loses a limb, he grows a stronger version of this limb.
